Safeguarding in our School
Safeguarding at Stanley Park Infants’ School
At Stanley Park Infants’ School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to ensuring the safety, well-being and protection of all pupils, and we recognise that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.
We take a whole-school, child-centred approach, ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interests of the child and that concerns are identified and acted upon at the earliest opportunity. Our strong safeguarding culture ensures that pupils feel safe, are listened to and know who to go to for help, while staff are vigilant and confident in responding to concerns.
In line with statutory guidance, safeguarding includes:
- providing help and support as soon as concerns arise
- protecting children from maltreatment, including online
- preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
- ensuring children grow up in safe and effective care
- taking timely action to enable all children to achieve the best possible outcomes
We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time. Our approach is underpinned by a culture of vigilance, openness and professional curiosity, where safeguarding is embedded across all aspects of school life and continuously reviewed to ensure best practice.
My Body My Choice My Body My Voice
My Body, My Choice; My Body, My Voice is a key part of our preventative safeguarding curriculum, empowering children with the knowledge, language and confidence to keep themselves safe, developing a clear understanding of ownership of their bodies and consent, boundaries and respect
Pupils are taught practical strategies to keep themselves safe and to identify trusted adults and personal safety networks, ensuring they know who to go to for help when worried.
The programme is delivered through a whole-school approach, including assemblies, the RHE curriculum and strong pastoral support. Staff receive regular CPD to ensure consistent, age-appropriate and inclusive practice.
NSPCC Stay Safe Speak Out
At Stanley Park, we are lucky to welcome the NSPCC team into our school with their “Stay Safe, Speak Out” programme, which adds an additional layer to our existing curriculum and promotes pupil voice by encouraging children to confidently share their concerns.
